The incident occurred at a Government Scheduled Caste Girls' Hostel in Indira Nagar, Kalyanpur, where a hostel worker, allegedly intoxicated, assaulted a student. The victim, who hails from Kannauj and studies at ITI Pandu Nagar, has lodged a formal complaint, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

Hostel Attack: Viral Video Sparks Outrage

The video, which surfaced on social media platforms like X and Instagram, shows the hostel worker physically assaulting the victim. CCTV footage reveals the worker entering the student’s room, pulling her hair, and beating her on the bed. Another student is seen trying to stop the attack. The incident was highlighted by the UP Congress on their X account.

Victim Alleges Repeated Misbehavior by Hostel Worker

According to the victim, the hostel worker frequently consumes alcohol and misbehaves with the residents. Two days before the complaint, the worker entered the victim’s room in a drunken state and attacked her without provocation. The victim alleged that she was beaten with fists, kicks, and slaps, and subjected to casteist slurs. These allegations have raised serious concerns about the safety and well-being of students residing in the hostel.

Police Action and Ongoing Investigation

The victim, along with her friends, approached the Police Commissioner’s office to report the incident. ACP Kalyanpur, stated that the police are actively investigating the matter. Statements from other hostel residents and staff are being recorded to gather more details.

The Police Commissioner has assured a thorough investigation, emphasising that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings. The authorities are also examining the CCTV footage and other evidence to build a strong case against the accused.
