The Lucknow viral video, shared on December 29, captures the heartless act at Charbagh Railway Station. Cleaning staff were seen splashing water on passengers, including women, children, and the elderly, to clear the platform. The passengers, braving the cold winter night with temperatures dropping to 8°C, were reportedly resting there due to unavailable seating in the waiting areas.
The video highlights cleaning staff using water from bottles and splashing it around the platform where passengers were seated. This act has led to widespread condemnation across social media.
The Lucknow viral video has garnered over 58,000 views on X, sparking heated debates. Netizens expressed shock and anger, calling for accountability from railway authorities.
One user commented: "Most spaces in India have very few seats, forcing people to sleep and sit on the floor. Sitting on the floor is a cultural norm in Indian houses. Stations need to add more seats and waiting rooms." Another remarked: "Utterly shameful and inhumane. Treating vulnerable people this way, especially in freezing conditions, is unacceptable. Authorities must be held accountable for such cruel actions."
A third user urged a broader perspective, saying: "Might it look inhuman, but we should consider it in a bigger prospect." Others criticised the lack of empathy, with one user stating: "This is truly shocking and inhumane. Authorities must take immediate action against such cruelty."
