Army Chief Naravane begins three-day visit of South Korea

Indian Army Chief General MM Naravane started his three-day visit to South Korea on Monday. The Indian Army quoted the ANI as saying that Army Chief MM Narwane started his tour with a tribute to the martyrs at the Korean military memorial. The purpose of the visit of the Chief of Army Staff is to increase strategic and defense cooperation between the two countries. The army chief met General Won of South Korea in Chowl and discussed strengthening India-Korea relations. South Korea is the main supplier of military equipment to India.

According to officials, during his visit, the army chief will talk to senior military officials of the Korean country on ways to expand bilateral military cooperation. According to reports, in the capital Seoul, General Narwane is scheduled to meet South Korea’s Defense Minister, Chief of Army Staff and Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The Indian Army Chief will also meet the Defense Purchase Planning Administration Minister along with South Korea. The army said in a statement that General Narwane will also visit the Korea Combat Training Center in Gangwon Province and the Advanced Defense Development in Daejeon.

Earlier, the army chief went on a six-day tour to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. This visit by General Narwane shows India’s growing strategic ties with two influential Gulf countries. Last month, General Narwane also visited Nepal and Myanmar.
