Peru: Two firefighters were killed when a LATAM Airlines plane taking off from Lima’s international airport in Peru struck a fire truck on the runway and caught fire on Friday. Videos of the accident went viral on social media.

The accident took place on the runway of Peru’s Jorge Chavez International Airport. There were 102 passengers and six crew members aboard the Airbus A320neo. However, no passengers or flight crew members were killed in the incident, the airline said.
The accident took place when the jetliner collided with a vehicle on the runway, according to videos circulating on social media.
The airport had suspended all operations and is investigating the causes of the accident.

Lima Airport Partners, the company that operates Jorge Chávez airport, said that operations at the facility had been suspended. “Our teams are providing the necessary care to all passengers, who are in good condition,” the company said.
