Ex Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Raghuvansh Babu dies of Coronavirus

His condition became serious on Saturday, following which he was put on a ventilator.

Former Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh died of the coronavirus on Sunday, NDTV reported. He was 74.

Singh was being treated for complications from the coronavirus in an intensive care unit of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi. His condition became serious on Saturday, following which he was put on a ventilator.

His condition deteriorated rapidly over the past two days and he was placed on a ventilator. He died at around 11 AM after complaining of breathlessness, according to news agency PTI.

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh had resigned from all the posts of the party, including the Vice President of RJD while undergoing treatment at Patna AIIMS.

Efforts were on to convince him that he fell ill again. This time, during treatment at Delhi AIIMS, he also resigned from the party on 10 September.

Raghuvansh’s resignation was not accepted by party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. He was angry with his rival Rama Singh’s attempts to enter the party.

It is said about Raghuvansh Babu, who looked rustic from above but, was very knowledgeable and had deep about socio-historical subjects.

He graduated from science and earned a master’s degree in mathematics. Unhappy with Lalu Yadav’s displeasure while living in RJD, Raghuvansh Babu openly opposed the decisions which he considered to be immoral or anti-people.

In a letter to the party in June, Singh had said he was not happy with the people being taken into the party fold. At the time, five of the eight Rashtriya Janata Dal members in the Rajya Sabha had also quit and joined the Janata Dal (United).
