According to a government official, the Prime Minister has instructed all agencies to take action and find the offender.
Although Thailand has a high percentage of gun ownership compared to certain other nations in the region, enormous quantities of illegal firearms, many of which have been imported over the years from war-torn neighbours across porous borders, are not included in official statistics.
