Vikas Divyakirti: The founder and owner of well-known UPSC coaching centre Drishti IAS, Vikas, is under controversy after a video of him making some "demeaning comments" against Lord Ram and Goddess Sita went viral on social media.
Sadhvi Prachi, a prominent member of the RSS, posted the video on Twitter with the hashtag #BandrishtiIAS. In the video, Divyakriti can be heard comparing Sita to ghee contaminated by a dog.
“I (Ram) did not fight this war for you (Sita) but for the respect of my lineage. As ghee licked by a dog is not fit for eating, you Sita, are not fit for me.” Divyakriti was heard saying. The video seems to have been taken in a coaching classroom.

The comment has drawn harsh criticism from a number of sources, with some even calling for the coaching facility to be shut down for hurting Hindu sentiments. Following the video' getting viral #BanDrishtiIAS has been trending on Twitter since Friday morning.

There may have been a moment or two when people viewing educational videos on YouTube came upon the Drishti IAS video. For candidates preparing for the UPSC, it is a significant coaching facility. Vikas Divyakirti is Delhi-based institute's founder and managing director. He has developed a star-like status during the previous twenty years. After leaving his position as an IAS official, Divyakirti began a new profession as a teacher.
Left IAS job to open coaching centre
Divyakirti, who started his career as a teacher in Delhi University, cleared the UPSC exam in his very first attempt in 1996. As an IAS officer, he got a job in the Ministry of Home Affairs. However, he did not like the job and showed more interest in teaching children. He resigned only after working for a year.
