Hisar-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra’s arrest on espionage charges for Pakistan has taken an unusual turn. Investigators are now focusing on her international trips, especially a visit to Bhutan’s famous Chimi Lhakhang Temple last October. This temple, also called the Fertility Temple, is known for its ancient rituals featuring phallic symbols.
Jyoti, 32, built a large audience through her travel vlogs. She had recorded her visit to the temple, which sits on a quiet hill in Punakha. The temple is famous for its fertility-themed murals, wooden phalluses, and symbolic paintings. It attracts many curious tourists and couples hoping for blessings to have children.
A part of her 30-minute vlog with over 33 lakh views has gone viral on social media. Jyoti explains the wooden phalluses openly and without awkwardness. Her video shows close-ups of the temple’s frescoes, ceremonial items, and interviews with visitors and local shopkeepers. She also talks with the temple’s female security staff and asks if she can pray for a child.
Jyoti keeps a light and friendly tone throughout. She follows temple rules by dressing modestly, avoiding shorts or crop tops. She shares stories about visitors coming from India and even Italy. The vlog also shows markets near the temple selling wooden phalluses, priced between Rs 500 and Rs 10,000. Jyoti jokes about buying one, but the vendor politely refuses.
In the viral clip, she says, “Size of pens, yaha par aapko wooden ke different different sizes mein penis mil jayenge. You can see this size, this one. Different shape. Different designs. Even yaha par dekhiye kaise different tarike se alag designs hain.”

Sources close to the investigation say authorities are checking Jyoti’s foreign visits to Pakistan and China to find any links or contacts related to espionage. They are also looking into her Bhutan visit, not because it was illegal, but to understand what she might have been looking for or discussing while filming.
On Sunday night, police took Jyoti Malhotra to her family home in Hisar for further questioning and to collect electronic evidence. Officials have not revealed what they found, but confirm they are reviewing raw footage and unpublished travel videos.
