Viral Video: After Indian captain Rohit Sharma criticised injuries in the Indian cricket team, former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg responded vehemently. In his opinion, players should uphold the rules rather than criticizing the system.
Hogg stated on his Instagram account, "If you want the gold, you want the riches, you’ve got to do the dirty work, have the discipline. That’s watching what you eat and the exercises that you do and the amount of work you’ve got to do to prepare for the next tournament.”
The statement followed Deepak Chahar's hamstring injury in the second One-Day International against Bangladesh. He was only able to throw three overs. Kuldeep Sen was not allowed to play in the game earlier in the day after complaining of back stiffness.
In the meantime, injuries prevented Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah from competing in the recently finished T20 World Cup. Additionally, they missed the white-ball tours of Bangladesh and New Zealand.
Hogg also acknowledged that players' workloads have increased as a result of the busy schedule, but it is up to the players to take care of their bodies. He said "A lot of injuries happening in the world of cricket. You can blame the calendar. The games played or the days spent by the player in the middle are no different from a soccer player. Also, you have different formats that cause a few issues as well, which it does. End of the day it’s up to the player to take control of his body.”
Rohit Sharma has also been added to the injury list, which is important to note. In the second ODI against Bangladesh, he injured his finger. On Saturday, December 10, the KL Rahul-led Team India will compete in a dead rubber match against the visitors.
