"A quick CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) to a passenger Arshid Ayoub by the Central Industrial Security Force's quick reaction team played a crucial role in establising his condition," CISF said in a statement.
"Ayoub, bound for Srinagar flight from Terminal 2 of the IGI Airport on Wednesday morning, collapsed due to cardiac arrest. He was admitted at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, and is stated to be stable," CISF added.
Ayoub was captured on a CCTV running when he fell to the ground while standing with a baggage trolley. He was in his 60s. CISF officer Dr Priya, who happened to be on patrol, rushed to his help. She performed CPR—a critical emergency procedure used to restore breathing and circulation when the heart stops.
"The first thing is that no one can take the place of God. We are able to do any work only with his signals. We returned from Amarnath Yatra that day and our flight had got delayed... At that time, we were in the food court area. At a nearby stall, there was an elderly man who suddenly fell," news agency ANI quoted Dr Priya as saying.
It was due to the presence of mind shown by Dr. Priya and the CISF jawan that Ayoub was saved. He was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital and he is reportedly out of danger. Dr. Priya said, "No one can take the place of God, but at least timely CPR played a vital role in this life-saving effort, pointing out clearly that timely medical response is an important factor in emergencies.".
