A viral video from a bridal lehenga store in Kalyan West, Maharashtra, is leaving viewers shocked. The CCTV footage captures a furious customer slashing a brand-new lehenga with a knife inside the shop. His actions were triggered after the store denied a direct refund for the ₹32,200 outfit.
The man's anger is visible in both his expressions and violent outburst. The clip has now spread across social media, drawing attention to rising public intolerance and the extremes people go to when faced with disagreement.
The viral video footage shared on the official Instagram page of Times Now shows the man, named Sumit Sayani, with the knife. He, in utter anger, is seen to be tearing the blue lehenga into pieces.
But soon after buying the lehenga, she wanted to return the lehenga, worth Rs. 32,300. But the shop owner told her that a direct refund would not be possible, and she could buy another lehenga in the same range.
He shreds the lehenga and its matching blouse piece with warning the shopkeeper, ‘I will cut you up too’. The CCTV footage shocked everyone watching it.
The shocking incident from the Kalyan showroom quickly went viral, sparking outrage and concern across social media. Many users called the man's behaviour deeply disturbing and unacceptable. His aggressive outburst over a refund refusal has opened up serious conversations about emotional control, red flags in relationships, and customer-service dynamics.
One user pointed out, “These are signs which women ignore. This is not love. The fiancée should take this as a serious anger issue problem.” Others reflected on the unhealthy dynamic, noting, “Both reflected their personalities, it’s alarming for both.” Viewers also raised valid concerns and questions. “Was he carrying the knife all along...?” asked one stunned user.
Another commented, “From where did he get the knife😮😮😮”, questioning the ease with which violence erupted inside a bridal showroom. While many disapproved of the act, some also empathized with the frustration. “What else he could do? ₹32,000 is not a small amount. These shopkeepers behave so sweetly when selling, and once the item is sold, their tone changes 😢” shared one emotional response.
The video has triggered a larger debate on unchecked rage, emotional immaturity, and the need for healthier dispute resolution, both in relationships and in business.
Following the shopkeeper’s complaint at Bazaarpeth Police Station, the man seen in the viral video has been arrested. According to police, he confessed that his actions were driven by rage after being denied a refund for the ₹32,200 lehenga. Senior Inspector Surajsingh Gaund confirmed that the man not only destroyed the outfit but also demanded ₹3 lakh in compensation and issued threats to ruin the store’s reputation through online reviews.
Authorities have taken the matter seriously and are pursuing legal action. Incidents like this raise concerns over the growing impulsiveness and aggression seen in such public outbursts, especially among the youth.
