A shocking viral video captures a Bangladeshi wife chasing after her husband on the train. The husband, reportedly a mullah from a madrasa in Chittagong, abandoned his first wife, eloping with the second one.
The helpless first wife, desperately wanting to stop him, gets merciless kicks in front of all. Viral video could not help but question the morality of the religious teachers.
The viral video opens with the first wife chasing after the train in utter desperation. But her husband, fleeing with his second wife, does not want any barrier to their new life. Thus, he was trying to kick and push his first wife, stopping her from boarding the train. The shocking video, posted by former gold medallist Pakistani boxer Imtiaz Mahmood on his X handle, stunned the netizens to the core.
A mullah was leaving for Chittagong with his newly married second wife. His first wife came to the railway station. He then beat up his first wife in front of his second wife and left. (The man works at a madrasa in Chittagong.) pic.twitter.com/7Mw45w9IGx

Though polygamy is not new in Islam, the level of insensitivity towards the first wife raises questions on morality. The incident that took place in the Chittagong district of Bangladesh shows that medieval torture and injustice towards women still prevail. The fact that the man works at a madrasa is further enraging everyone, considering that the very religious teachers of Islam are infidels.
People on the internet are disgusted by the inhuman behaviour of the husband. They are openly targeting the religion by noting the tendency to control and subordinate women in its perceived ideology. They say, "That's Islam!" and "It's normal for them". Some are taunting on the kicks of the man, saying, "Those were merciful kicks of love…..".
Addressing the hypocrisy of the religious teacher, people say, "Beats his wife at the station, preaches peace at the madrasa — hypocrisy boarded the train long before he did". People are also showing concern for the future of the first wife by asking, "So if she is not allowed to work, I'm guessing she will starve? What are her options?".
Though the Qur'an emphasises that men and women are spiritually equal in the eyes of God, the religious interpreters somehow fail to follow so. If such inhuman treatment towards the wife in the open daylight seems so normal, what is their condition behind closed doors?
The desperate run of the wife in her burqa shows her utter helplessness without her husband, even after such a level of disrespect. Lack of education and patriarchal oppression infused in the minds leads to the normalisation of such acts again and again.
What do you think can be the reason behind such ill-treatment of women? Share your thoughts with us.
