Viral Video: A disturbing video from Samastipur in Bihar has raised serious questions over the quality of service and security provided by Indian Railways. The viral video on social media shows a train guard mistreating a differently-abled passenger on board the Vaishali Superfast Express, which was en route from Saharsa to New Delhi.
Disturbing Video Captures Train Guard’s Abusive Behavior
In this video, a train guard identified as Ram Ashish Das is seen actively pushing the handicapped individual at his collar and pushing him out from the train. This incident is reportedly from Samastipur station while the disabled man, a resident of Thatia village in Rosda, was traveling to Muzaffarpur. The acts, when coupled with the use of abusive language, shocked viewers and have thrown a shadow on the tall claims of passenger safety and service standards upheld by Indian Railways.
Public Demands Accountability
The railway authorities are yet to react officially to the incident. Questions are being asked what action that railway administration is going to take against that guard as the video keeps getting viral on social media. The viral clip was shared by Twitter user Nishant Sharma with the hashtag further amplifying public scrutiny of the situation.
The way a helpless passenger was manhandled by the railway staff member is indeed a situation of urgent need to know or check about the gaps in training and accountability factors in Indian Railways. This incident served to bring sharply into focus the challenges passengers with disabilities often face and the critical need for respectful and compassionate treatment in public transport.
