Railway hygiene affects millions of travellers every day across India and deserves close attention. Passengers often share stories about dirty washrooms and unsafe food practices during long journeys among passengers. Rail services must maintain high cleanliness standards onboard and at stations to protect public health and travel comfort.
Media reports and viral video clips often expose gaps in hygiene protocols on board trains. This article looks at a recent viral video and its hygiene implications for passengers.
Bhanu Nand, a social worker, shared a viral video showing a tea vendor washing containers onboard. The clip shows the vendor using the train washroom jet spray to clean their dirty jug. The jug cap lies on the floor close to the toilet, immediately raising serious hygiene alarms.

This act appears unsafe and can risk the health of any passenger who drinks tea daily. Moreover, the jet spray may easily spread germs inside the washroom and even to nearby areas. This viral video clearly highlights the urgent need for cleaner vendor practices on trains.
After seeing the viral video, social media users slammed the practice. One user wrote, "Train me vendors ko koi civic sense nahi hai. Bas pack karke late hain, guarantee bhi nahi milti," showing anger over poor hygiene.
Another wrote, "Agar aap train mein chai peete hain, to yeh jaana zaroori hai ki kettle kis haalat mein dhuli jaati hai," stressing the need to know container cleanliness before drinking.
A user warned, "Main apne 10 saal ke anubhav se bata raha hoon ki train mein bikne wala koi bhi khane-peene ka samaan sevankeyogya nahi hai." that onboard food items often seem unsafe. These posts reflect deep worry about hygiene on trains and a push for quick action from railway authorities.
Rail authorities must issue clear and strict hygiene guidelines for all onboard vendors without any further delay. They need to conduct very regular inspections and training sessions for vendors on every train route. Officials can set up safe cleaning stations outside washrooms for vendor equipment sanitation regularly daily.
Passengers should stay fully aware by checking vendor habits and avoiding items that seem visibly unclean immediately. Moreover, public alerts and announcements can effectively guide travellers on safe food choices onboard trains.
The viral video warns every traveller about serious hygiene gaps in onboard food services today.
