Viral Video: Himachal Pradesh police prosecuted the driver after a video of him operating a Thar in the Chandra River in Lahaul and Spiti went viral on social media. The tourist was shown in a video released by ANI explaining that the car was contested under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.
The vehicle is driven in the river in the ANI video. Eventually, the tourist finds an icy area where the car can be driven out of the water. There are multiple people standing on the frozen area. SP Mayank Chaudhry told the news agency, "Recently, a video went viral in which a Thar is crossing the river Chandra in District Lahaul Spiti. The said vehicle has been challenged under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and to ensure that no one commits such an offence in the future, the district police have deployed police personnel at the said place."
We shared this post on December 25. It has received more than three lakh views since it was posted. There are also a tonne of comments and 1,300 likes on the video. Upon witnessing the incident, many expressed shock and demanded that the tourists in question be "banned" from future visits.
