A nearby CCTV camera managed to capture shocking video of the incident. The two girls can be seen crossing the street when a bike slows down and one of the riders hurls something from a glass at the 17-year-old. She is then seen running while holding her face, obviously in terrible pain. According to witnesses, the girl rushed to a neighbour who assisted in washing the chemical from her face.

Swati Maliwal, the head of the Delhi Women's Panel, expressed concern over the incident and questioned why the sale of acid could not be restricted in order to stop such heinous crimes.
"In the nation's capital, two thugs hurl acid at a schoolgirl in broad daylight. Is there still a fear of the law? Why can't acid sales be outlawed? Shame, "She Tweeted.
She questioned why the government did not outlaw the retail sale of acid in another post, claiming that it is just as easy to find as vegetables. She claimed that the Delhi women's panel had long demanded this ban. When will governments begin to act?
