Viral Video: A viral video from Bali has stirred global outrage after a white tourist was caught red-handed stealing a pair of surfing shorts. Locals confronted him on the spot as he tried to charm his way out of the situation with a smug smile. His act, though petty, didn’t go unnoticed, and it sparked far more than just embarrassment.
The incident triggered a wave of online anger, with many drawing parallels to the historical exploitation by colonizers. Echoes of British-era manipulation resurfaced in public discourse, leading to the rise of the #BanWhiteTourist trend calling out such behavior.
A viral video shared by Ghar Ke Kalesh on their X handle has sparked outrage online. It shows a white tourist in Bali getting caught red-handed after stealing a pair of surfing shorts. Not only was he wearing the stolen item, but he also tried to escape with a smile, seemingly amused by the situation.

The local vendor, however, didn’t let him get away. Acting swiftly, he grabbed the tourist from behind and stopped him in his tracks. The video has since drawn sharp criticism, with many calling out the double standards and colonial arrogance reflected in such behavior.
Netizens are clearly enraged by this act of stealing, as they demand #BanWhiteTourist. But they are wondering what the need is for even stealing a surfing shorts? One user can't help but ask, "After all, why did he feel the need to do this, brother?".
People are wondering whether the surfing shorts of Bali are so expensive that they made foreigners steal them!! One person makes a joke out of it, saying, "When you wanted to ride the waves but ended up running from the law, Bali's surf shorts just got too expensive for this tourist 😂".
People are relating this directly to the stealing nature of the Britishers since the colonial era. They say, "Yeh Lundon(UK) Ki economy Chori pe tikki hui hei" and "These are old thieves, they've looted entire nations!".
People are mostly mocking the Britishers who often show themselves to be superior and civilised, yet indulge in exploiting other nations. Pointing at this one say, "The so called civilised people 🤣 🤣" and "Saale Britishers. 200 saal pehle bhi chor the, aur abhi bhi chor hai".
Although the identity of this white man is still unknown, people are taking this as a means to attack the duplicity of racial superiority. It clearly indicates that your skin colour does not make you civilised or superior to anyone. It is your nature that talks above all.
