Bareilly Viral Video: A birthday party in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, has triggered strong reactions online. A video from the celebration has gone viral on social media. It shows a group of right-wing activists storming a café during a private event. They accused the people present of “love jihad.”
The incident took place on Saturday night in the Prem Nagar area. What was meant to be a simple birthday celebration quickly turned into chaos. The video spread fast and sparked a heated debate online.
According to reports, the party was organised by a first-year BSc Nursing student. She had invited nine friends to celebrate her birthday at a local cafe. Five of them were women. Four were men, and two of the men were identified as Shan and Waqif, who belong to another community.
What happened In Bareilly Viral Video
As seen in the viral video, a group allegedly entered the cafe without permission. They disrupted the party and raised slogans. They accused the group of being involved in “love jihad.” Guests at the café appeared shocked and scared.
In another video shared online, the birthday girl is seen speaking to the media. She claims her friends were attacked and harassed. She says, “They stormed the cafe, began assaulting my friends and started accusing of Love-Jihad. They tried to harass and snatch my phone. Most of the guests were Hindu, and there were only two Muslim friends.”
Her words added fuel to the anger online. Many users questioned how such an incident could happen during a private celebration. Several people also raised concerns about safety in public spaces.
One user wrote, “In a Hindu Rastra, a Hindu girl can’t even celebrate her birthday freely.” Another commented, “I think this is going to become a new way for goons to extort money from citizens.”

State Police Take Action
Police from the Prem Nagar station reached the cafe soon after receiving information. The situation was brought under control. The student and her friends were taken to the police station for questioning.
Initially, Shan was taken into custody. Waqif reportedly fled the spot. Police later traced him after launching a search. Officials said the steps were taken to prevent further trouble.
The Bareilly police later confirmed legal action. In a statement shared online, they said, “On 27.12.25, during a birthday party at a cafe located in Premnagar Police Station, upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and, to maintain peace and order, preventive action was taken under Sections 170/126/135 BNSS against the concerned individuals. Further legal proceedings are underway.”
As per the PTI report, Police also issued challans to two youths and a cafe staffer for disturbing the peace. Station House Officer Raj Bali said the student lives in a hostel in Prem Nagar and studies at a private college. He added that her relatives and the families of others present were informed. Circle Officer First Ashutosh Shivam later confirmed that the situation was under control.
