Bengaluru Viral Video: Customer Turns…! Passenger Drives Cab Late at Night After Sleepy Cab Driver Hands Over Keys, Watch

Milind Chandwani, an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) graduate and founder of Camp Diaries Bengaluru, turned a routine cab ride into an unexpected late-night adventure when he ended up driving the cab himself after realizing his driver was too sleepy to continue.

Chandwani shared the unusual incident on Instagram, where his reflective and humorous narration has garnered over 11 million views.

Late-Night Detour: Passenger Becomes Driver

The incident occurred around 3 AM while Chandwani was returning from Bengaluru airport. He noticed his cab driver struggling to stay awake despite stopping for tea and a cigarette break. Concerned for their safety, Chandwani offered to take over the wheel, which the driver quickly accepted.

In his Instagram post, Chandwani humorously described the moment: “He handed me the keys faster than I could say ‘Bengaluru traffic.’” A video accompanying the post shows the driver asleep in the passenger seat as Chandwani navigates the streets using Google Maps.

Reflection on Compassion and Hard Work

Chandwani’s experience left him with mixed emotions. “I felt glad he trusted me, sad that he had to push himself so hard, and amused at how quickly he decided I was qualified for the job,” he wrote. He tipped the driver Rs 100 and jokingly asked for a 5-star rating in return.

The post also carried a thoughtful message about kindness and adaptability: “Life is full of unexpected detours. Be kind, be empathetic, and maybe brush up on your driving skills. You never know when they’ll come in handy.”

Social media users lauded Chandwani for his presence of mind and compassion. Comments ranged from admiration for his kindness to concerns for the driver’s well-being. One user wrote, “Kindness is rare, and you are one of the custodians.”

This lighthearted yet meaningful incident has resonated with many, emphasizing the importance of empathy and quick thinking in unexpected situations.
