Google Maps Navigation Mishap: A man in Tamil Nadu ended up in a situation akin to being caught amid a flight of stairs when he relied on Google Maps to provide him with the quickest route to his destination. The incident took place close to Ooty in the Nilgiris. After the navigation mishap, a video of the incident became popular on various social media platforms. The car and the driver were rescued by Tamil Nadu Police which took the car onto a normal road.

A few Google Maps users responded to the video by saying that they had encountered similar issues in the past. Although none of them found themselves in such an epic scenario.
"I have been facing an issue with Google Maps recently," wrote Awesh (@awesh). "It often shows roads that are accessible only by bike. Ideally, Google Maps should be able to identify if the user is accessing it through CarPlay and display roads that are suitable for cars by default."
"I had similar, but that is towards Kudagu, in 2016," added another user Sabari Iyer (@SabariIyer_mdu). "Two of my friends and I were travelling from Bengaluru to Kodagu, and it was dark and around midnight we entered a forest and the map led us to a cliff. Luckily, we sensed something was wrong and got out of the car to check. When we realised that we were on the edge, we immediately reversed the car."
