A Haridwar viral video has shocked the nation by showing cruelty at the hospital. A pregnant woman was forced to give birth on the floor after staff allegedly refused to admit her. The heartbreaking incident has triggered anger online and raised questions about medical negligence.
The woman (said to be from a poor family) reached the hospital at 9:30 pm on Tuesday night. Her relatives said the doctor on duty denied treatment, claiming deliveries were not conducted there. With no support and no bed given, she endured hours of pain on the floor. By 1:30 am, she gave birth in full public view.
Soni (a family member) recalled the trauma. “When we arrived at the hospital in the morning, she [the pregnant woman and another relative] told us that no one even allowed her to lie on a bed.”
Soni also accused the staff of mocking the woman after the delivery. A nurse allegedly said, “Mazaa aaya? Aur bacha paida karegi?” (Did you enjoy it? Do you want to deliver more kids?). Expressing her anger, Soni added, “Who says such things? If something had happened to the baby, who would have taken responsibility? The delivery took place on the floor. We demand that no patient be treated like this. People come here in sorrow, not in joy.”

Netizens slammed the inhumane behaviour. One user wrote, “What a Disgrace.” Another commented, “Hello @ukcmo this is unacceptable. On what basis you claim yourself to be different from others? Take strict action against the doctor who declined to admit the lady, that too during intense labour pain.”
A third user said, “Thuuu hai aisey system pe…aur thu hai hamarey 4th biggest economy hone pe.”
Doctor Terminated After The Incident
Chief Medical Officer Dr RK Singh addressed the matter. He said, “I have taken a preliminary report from the Women’s Hospital and am awaiting a detailed written version. According to initial information, the woman was brought in around 9:30 pm and delivered at 1:30 am in the emergency room. The authenticity of the video is still being verified. However, if any negligence is confirmed, strict action will be taken.”
The CMO confirmed that Dr Sonali (the contractual doctor on night duty) has been terminated. Two nurses have also received official notices for their alleged role in the incident.
Investigations are underway to find out why the woman was refused admission despite being in an emergency.
