Legal Experts Highlight Anti-Ragging Laws And Student Protection

Legal experts pointed out that actions under the Juvenile Justice Act and anti-ragging regulations can apply to Junagadh hostel assault cases. Ragging and hostel bullying in India are punishable under the Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997, which mandates strict penalties for physical and mental harassment.

Experts emphasised that schools and hostels must ensure compliance with these rules and implement clear safety protocols. They also advised parents and authorities to report and monitor bullying incidents immediately to prevent escalation.

The Junagadh incident exposes serious gaps in hostel safety. Authorities, schools, and communities must act quickly to prevent future bullying. Awareness, accountability, and strict enforcement remain crucial.
