Karnataka DGP Viral Video: Director General of Police (DGP) R Ramachandra Rao, the stepfather of jailed actor Ranya Rao, was allegedly seen in a now viral video kissing and cuddling a woman while he was in uniform at his police station. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has sought full information from officials after ordering a detailed report.
Rao, who presently heads the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement (DCRE), rushed to the residence of Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara as soon as the video went viral.
Rao termed the video as fabricated and urged for an urgent investigation into the serious matter. Rao remarked he is in complete shock because of the fabricated video. He added a case against those spreading false news would be filed once he meets his advocate.
When asked if the video was shot in his office, the DGP remarked he served in Belagavi eight years back but did not elaborated or clarified the link between his Belagavi stint and the video.
The 47-second-long video looks being filmed using a mobile phone inside his police chamber. A compilation of multiple video clips, the video has sparked nationwide outrage.
A 1993-batch IPS officer, R Ramachandra Rao was previously in news when Ranya Rao, his stepdaughter, was arrested in a case of illegal gold smuggling was busted by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence. Ranya is presently lodged in the Bengaluru Central Prison.
What the Karnataka DGP Viral Video Allegedly Shows?
The footage shows the DGP in compromising situations with women during duty hours inside his office while wearing his uniform. The women are allegedly said to have visited Rao on multiple occasions and were dressed differently each time.
The video reportedly captures scenes of kissing, groping, hugging and flirtatious behaviour. There have been no allegations of undue force or coercion till now but the conduct of Rao has drawn sharp criticism.
