MP Viral Video: A video from Madhya Pradesh has stirred up major controversy online. The footage shows Bhind district magistrate and IAS officer Sanjeev Srivastava slapping a college student multiple times during an exam. The incident took place on April 1 at Deendayal Dangraulia Mahavidyalaya during a BSc 2nd-year Mathematics paper.
The clip shows Srivastava pulling student Rohit Rathore from his seat, slapping him in front of others, and later taking him to another room. He then handed over Rohit’s answer sheet to the staff, pointing at him as if to accuse him of wrongdoing. The video has quickly gone viral, leaving people divided over what really happened.

मीडिया रिपोर्ट के अनुसार आईएएस ने छानते मारने के बाद छात्र को अपने ऑफिस में ले जाकर फिर से दोबारा बुरी तरह मारपीट की थी pic.twitter.com/8clglLsIUX
Speaking to TOI, Srivastava defended his actions by saying it was a part of efforts to stop mass cheating. He said, “We received a tip-off that mass cheating was going on at the college. We went there, but to our surprise, everything appeared to be normal. Everyone was sitting quietly in the examination hall - it was a mathematics paper.”
Srivastava claimed one student had sent his question paper outside for someone else to solve. He added, “I noticed that only this student did not have his question paper. When questioned strictly, he admitted that he had sent his paper outside to be solved, and the answers were to be dictated back to others.”
The officer also mentioned writing to Jiwaji University, asking for action against the college. Interestingly, the college is reportedly owned by Narayan Dangraulia, the father-in-law of Hemant Katare, a senior opposition leader in the state assembly.
On the other side, the student, Rohit Rathore, has denied all cheating allegations. Speaking to the media after the incident, he said, “I went to the toilet. I had left my question paper on the table, but when I returned, I couldn’t find it. That’s when the district collector came. One student had two question papers during the checking. I was sitting at the second table and had no question paper.”
He added, “Sir made me stand up, slapped me twice, then took me downstairs and slapped me again. I got hurt and took some medicine from my father, who runs a medical shop.”
