After the stampede incident. BJP-led state Odisha is in the headlines again for another major controversy. A shocking viral video from Bhubaneswar has gone viral, showing a senior IAS officer being brutally attacked in broad daylight. The incident happened on Monday (June 30) inside the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) office.
The officer, Ratnakar Sahoo, who is the Additional Commissioner of BMC, was attacked just after attending a public grievance session. Witnesses say he was dragged out of his office and beaten by men linked to a BJP leader who lost in the 2024 Assembly election.

Sahoo was injured and later filed a complaint at the local police station. The disturbing video quickly spread on social media, raising serious concerns about law and order in the state.
Reacting to the incident, former Odisha CM and BJD president Naveen Patnaik posted on X, “The officer was dragged from his office and brutally kicked and assaulted in front of a BJP corporator, allegedly linked to a defeated BJP MLA candidate.”
He added, “What is more appalling is that this happened in broad daylight, in the heart of the capital city of Bhubaneswar, to a senior officer, while he was in his office hearing the grievances of people."
Patnaik demanded strict action from the Chief Minister. “I ask Chief Minister Mohan Majhi (@MohanMOdisha) Ji to take immediate and exemplary action against not only those who perpetrated but more importantly the political leaders who orchestrated and conspired this shameful attack.”
He also questioned the safety of officials in the state. “The people named by the officer in his FIR have behaved like criminals. If a senior officer is not safe in his own office, then what law and order will ordinary citizens expect from the government?”
Patnaik further said, “I only hope that Mr. Majhi directs immediate action to be taken to restore faith in his government and not allow this heinous act to go unpunished, like the assault on an officer by the ex-Governor’s son. The people of Odisha will not forgive this.”
I am utterly shocked seeing this video.

The viral video has now sparked state-wide outrage and raised serious concerns about the safety of government officials and political violence in Odisha.
