Panipat Viral Video: Haryana Police have arrested a school principal and a bus driver for abusing a Class 2 student at Srijan Public School in Panipat. The shocking incident came to light after a video went viral showing the seven-year-old tied upside down to a window. The video also showed the bus driver hitting the child, while another clip captured the principal slapping two students repeatedly and pulling a child’s ears in front of classmates.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Satish Vats confirmed the arrests. He said the incident happened on August 13, but the child’s family only learned about it on September 27, after the bus driver shared the video online.
Panipat Viral Video: Legal Action Taken Against School Staff
The teacher said to be the principal (Reena) and bus driver (Ajay) have been booked under Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act, and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. Police are investigating further and have asked other parents to share any evidence of misconduct.
When asked, the principal said the children were punished for misbehaving with two sisters. She said, “I had apprised their parents about the incident the same day.” She admitted calling the driver to scold the student for not completing homework, but said the punishment went too far. After learning that the child was tied and hung upside down, she said she had fired the driver on August 30.

Parents Claim Kids Were Also Made To Clean Toilets
Despite the principal’s explanation, some parents said corporal punishment was common at the school. They claimed students were sometimes made to clean classroom floors and toilets as a form of punishment. The viral video has sparked outrage online, with many calling for stricter rules and better safety measures for children in private schools.
Authorities have assured that the case is being taken seriously. Deputy Superintendent Vats said the police are committed to ensuring justice and protecting students from abuse. The school management has also been asked to fully cooperate with the investigation.
