Viral Video: A heart-stirring incident aboard the Amrapali Express is taking social media by storm. A viral video shared by the Ministry of Railways shows a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) on a 70-year-old man who had suffered a heart attack. While many applauded the TTE's quick thinking and dedication, the video also sparked a heated debate online, especially from medical professionals questioning the appropriateness of the CPR technique.

TTE's Heroic Effort Saves Elderly Passenger in Viral Video

The incident occurred in the general coach of train number 15708, the Amrapali Express. The elderly passenger, who reportedly experienced a cardiac episode, received immediate assistance from the on-duty TTE. The official Indian Railways post shared details of the life-saving act, stating: “TTE's Prompt Action Saves a Life. A 70-year-old passenger traveling in the general coach of train number 15708, Amrapali Express, suffered a heart attack during the journey. The on-duty TTE acted swiftly, administering CPR without delay and saving the passenger's life. The passenger was later sent to the hospital from Chhapra railway station.”

The man was promptly transported to a hospital after the train halted at Chhapra railway station in Bihar. While the incident highlights the importance of swift action during medical emergencies, the CPR technique used in the video led to widespread backlash.

Why Did the CPR Spark Controversy?

In the viral video, the elderly man appeared conscious and responsive while the TTE administered CPR. This raised eyebrows, as medical experts pointed out that CPR is typically performed on unconscious individuals who show no signs of breathing or a pulse. Several users expressed concern that such misinformation could lead to misuse of the life-saving procedure in critical situations.

What Netizens Had to Say

The comment section on social media turned into a heated debate, with users applauding the TTE’s intentions while criticising the execution of the technique:

Ashish Pradhan, a user claiming to be a doctor, commented:“Performing CPR on a conscious patient is extremely wrong and dangerous. This is no joke; it is a serious life-saving procedure. Please remove this video immediately so that no one loses their life due to your wrong information.”

Another user, Dr. Vishnu Rajgadia, added:“Another amazing feat of the reel minister. According to this tweet, when a passenger in the train suffered a heart attack, the TTE saved his life by giving CPR. In the video, the patient is seen talking in consciousness. In the comments, doctors called it wrong CPR and advised to delete the tweet. Read the comments; what is wrong in this?”

Despite the criticism, some users praised the TTE's dedication: “Great Work Done By TTE,” and “Thank you very much for this promptness and dedication! Doing this really becomes an example for others.”
