Viral Video of Incident on Jhelum Express

In the viral video, the fake ticker checker is seen approaching passengers with waiting tickets. He was taking money from them with the assurance that he would provide them with confirmed seats. People waiting for a comfortable confirmed seat thus naturally felt relieved and paid him. Later, railway officials gathered Rs 1,620 cash from the accused.

The viral clip quickly circulated online, with a wise man capturing it and reporting it to the railway’s official social media handles. According to initial reports, the man named Kamal Pandey was himself travelling without a ticket from Jhansi to Gwalior. The man, shockingly, was an army officer, posted in Babina, and was probably under drug influence.

Passengers’ Reactions to this Viral Video

The confidence of the Fake TTE is shocking everyone watching the viral video of the Jhelum Express. People are now wondering whether passengers should ask for IDs too, by saying, “Should passengers start asking for ID before showing tickets?” Angered netizens also suggest that the seat allocation duty be taken off from TTEs.

They suggest, “Simple solution. Take that seat-assigning privilege from TTEs. TTEs should only verify valid tickets and penalize those who don’t have tickets.” While others can’t help but appreciate the man’s acting skills. They say, “good idea for time pass”, and “Oscar de do isseh”, and “Bhai mein to de deta isko paise. Confidence dekho”.

Not the First Case: Previous Fake TTE Incidents

Several such incidents have been reported across Indian Railways in recent years. In 2022, Delhi Police arrested 11 men posing as TTEs at New Delhi station, found with fake IDs and appointment letters. That same year, two more imposters in Delhi duped passengers by promising confirmed tickets.

In 2025, another fake TTE was caught at Muzaffarpur Junction collecting fines using forged documents, and a similar case surfaced on the Pune–Jammu Tawi Jhelum Express, where the accused posed as an Army officer. These repeated scams highlight the urgent need for tighter railway ID checks and passenger awareness.

After the circulation of such viral video of fake TTEs, railway officials are now alerting passengers to check the ID cards of TTEs if they suspect. People are also advised not to trust or pay anyone without a uniform who claims to be railway staff.
