Viral Video: A couple from a distant village in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district is seen in a heartbreaking viral video trekking 15 kilometres while carrying the bodies of their two small sons on their shoulders. The terrible event that happened in Pattigaon village on September 4 has caused a great deal of rage and sorrow on the internet.
The video was shared by Aaj Tak on Instagram which shows the parents' harrowing journey home after they were unable to get the necessary medical attention in time. Social media users expressed shock at the circumstances and called for attention to be paid to the distant healthcare crisis.
On September 4, the two little boys, who were just 6 and 3, became sick with fever. Their parents turned to a local priest for traditional treatments because their village lacked proper healthcare facilities. After receiving herbal medication, the situations of both youngsters quickly deteriorated. Both brothers died within hours, leaving their parents in excruciating anguish.
The devastated parents refused additional help, opting instead to carry their kids' remains and walk home in sadness even after an ambulance finally arrived at the clinic. The desperation and helplessness displayed in this act is reminiscent of the widespread issues with access to healthcare in such isolated areas.
According to India Today, this heartbreaking tragedy is not an isolated case in Gadchiroli district. Similar instances have occurred in other isolated villages in the tehsils of Bhamragad, Etapalli, and Aheri, leaving families without access to adequate roads, medical facilities, or prompt ambulance services in case of medical crises. There is now cause for grave concern over the continuous fight for improved healthcare facilities in these communities.
After the video went viral, netizens expressed their disbelief and sorrow. Taking to comment section, one user wrote, "There is nothing more shameful than this for the government and the administration." Another said, "People made the video but didn't help." A third user commented, "Oh God, don't show such days to any parents."
