Viral Video: On the 3rd of December, as the globe is celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we feel ashamed. A video showing getting viral online, shows that the condition of people with disabilities has not changed in your country, even today.
Same medieval treatment, same discrimination, and same humiliation, years after years. The helpless divyang man can’t even sleep peacefully in a railway station. Police came and treated him the way not even a convict would expect.
Shocking Assault on Disabled Man By Police Constable
The executive editor of NDTV, Anurag Dwary, shares the viral video showing a police constable’s violence over a divyang man. The footage gets instantly over 61.7k views on the occasion of International Divyang Day. In the viral video, the police constable in formal attire attacks the disabled man sleeping on the platform of Nagda railway station.
He brutally lifts the man’s leg and then kicks him in the back to wake him up. The disabled man, as captured by one passenger on an ongoing train, was then seen sadly grabbing his bag and leaving the platform. The guilty police constable has now been suspended for his shameful maltreatment.
Public Anger Grows as Video Goes Viral Online
The viral video instantly causes widespread uproar against the guilty police constable. The Railway Seva official handle makes an instant comment, saying that the concerned authorities get informed about this incident. Angered people demand, “If u want a civilized society, this man should be behind bars”. People also demand, “Why only suspended? Why not straightaway fired and arrested for assault?”
People are also noting the inhumane behaviour of the police, by saying, “Sir pata nahi humare desh ki police itni irresponsible kaise hai, sabse jyda worst human being police department me hi h”. People are also demanding a men’s commission to act against such maltreatment of men by saying, “a men’s commission is needed to protect the largest taxpayers and pillars of this so-called democracy.”
Viral Video Shows Only Celebrating Divyang Day is Not Enough
On the occasion of World Divyang Day, PM Narendra Modi today reaffirmed India’s commitment to ensuring dignity, opportunities, and accessibility for divyang citizens. He also counts on the increasing contributions of disabled people towards national development. However, this viral video shows that, irrespective of government schemes and positive welfare, divyang people still face widespread hatred and discrimination across the country.
So, will the celebration of Divyang Day be limited to social media posts? When are we going to make actual inclusion for them and provide them with the same opportunities and affection? These questions should bother you.
