Viral Video: Punjab Man Arrested for Brutally Torturing Elderly Mother, Caught on CCTV

Viral Video: In a deeply disturbing incident in Punjab's Ropar city, a man identified as Ankur Verma, who works as a lawyer, was arrested for allegedly subjecting his elderly mother to relentless physical abuse. The horrifying ordeal, which took place on September 19, October 2, and October 21, was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the victim's home by her son. The footage shows Ankur Verma, along with his wife Sudha and their minor son, brutally assaulting his 73-year-old mother, Asha Rani.

The distressing videos depict a series of horrifying acts, including slapping, hair-pulling, and other forms of violence directed at the elderly woman. The victim's daughter, Deepshikha, learned about her mother's suffering when she came to visit her. Deepshikha managed to gain access to the CCTV footage, revealing the extent of the abuse. Shockingly, when she informed her relatives, they did not take any action, likely influenced by the accused's status as a lawyer.

Deepshikha turned to an NGO for help and handed over the incriminating CCTV footage to the police. With their intervention, the elderly woman was subsequently rescued from her tormentors.

In response to the case, authorities have registered a complaint under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 327, 342, and 323, as well as Section 24 of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act. The accused son, Ankur Verma, has been taken into custody, and the elderly victim has been admitted to a hospital to receive medical attention for the injuries sustained during the abuse.
