The incident took place at the primary health center in Gadasarai, Bajag, where the woman’s husband was brought after being attacked in a violent family dispute in the Lalpur area, resulting in the death of three family members.
Responding to the public outrage and a directive from District Collector Harsh Singh, Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Ramesh Maravi issued notices to the involved staff, including Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, staff nurse Rajkumari Markam, and other attendants. The hospital initially claimed that the woman requested cloth to collect blood as evidence, denying any instructions for her to clean the bed herself. Dr. Chandrashekhar Tekam from Gadasarai Health Center stated that staff was present and insisted the woman was not instructed to perform any cleaning.
This incident has raised serious questions about hospital protocol and the treatment of patients' families in moments of tragedy, adding to ongoing concerns about healthcare standards in rural hospitals.
