In a shocking incident aboard an IndiGo flight (6E-2175) from Delhi to Goa, a passenger identified as Sahil Kataria physically assaulted the aircraft's co-captain, Anup Kumar. The assault, captured in a viral video, occurred during an announcement about flight delays, attributed to fog-related issues.
The flight, delayed for several hours due to fog, witnessed an unexpected outburst from Sahil Kataria. The incident unfolded as co-captain Anup Kumar, replacing the previous crew under Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms, addressed passengers regarding the delay.
The viral video shows a man in a yellow hoodie rushing from the last row to physically assault the co-captain. IndiGo has filed a complaint against Sahil Kataria and is in the process of initiating an official case. The passenger was promptly removed from the aircraft and handed over to authorities.
A passenger punched an Indigo capt in the aircraft as he was making delay announcement. The guy ran up from the last row and punched the new Capt who replaced the previous crew who crossed FDTL. Unbelievable ! @DGCAIndia @MoCA_GoI pic.twitter.com/SkdlpWbaDd

Social media users expressed their outrage, condemning the passenger's behavior. Calls for legal action, including assault charges and placement on the No Fly List, flooded online platforms. The public emphasized that the airline crew had no control over flight delays caused by weather conditions.
The incident occurred amid widespread disruptions at Delhi airport, where 110 flights experienced delays, and 79 were canceled on the same day. Adverse weather conditions, including dense fog, led to significant delays, with some exceeding seven or eight hours. IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Vistara warned of ongoing bad weather impacting flight schedules in Delhi and Kolkata.
