Viral Video: A horrifying development occurred when Prami Sridhar used the Zepto delivery app to get Hershey's chocolate syrup and discovered a dead mouse inside the bottle. Hershey's India responded promptly after this startling incidence got momentum on social media.
In a widely shared Instagram post, Prami Sridhar shared her story and advised viewers to exercise caution while making food purchases. She described that when she first used the syrup, she discovered a few hairs. Feeling suspicious, she made the decision to look into it more.
“We ordered Hershey’s chocolate syrup from Zepto to eat with brownie cakes. We started with pouring with cakes, caught small hair continuously, decided to open. The opening was sealed and intact. We opened and poured in disposable glass, a thick and hard consistency of dead rat dropped down. By washing in running water for reconfirmation, it’s a dead rat,” Prami explained in her post.
Hershey's India became aware of the matter right away, and they are currently handling it and looking exactly how it happened.
The video has elicited strong reactions from netizens. One user expressed their frustration by saying, "Saas leta hu ek aur product se vishwas uth jata hai," while another pointed out that the complaint should be directed at Hershey's rather than Zepto, noting, "Zepto is a delivery app service. Complaint should be made about the Hershey." Others shared sentiments like "New fear unlocked" and advised to "Make complaint to food safety department."
In addition, Prami reported that a number of family members who had tried the syrup before discovering about the mouse became ill are currently on the recovery. Serving meals to youngsters requires caution and vigilance, as she asked everyone to do.
“Please be aware of what you are eating and ordering. Please do check while giving to kids,” she advised.
This incident follows a recent case in Mumbai where a resident found a human finger with a nail in an ice cream ordered online, further highlighting the need for stringent food safety and quality checks.
