The Defense Ministry will launch a bilateral maritime exercise- JIMEX 20 between India and Japan on the west coast of India.
It is fourth edition of JIMEX, a bilateral maritime exercise. It will be held in the North Arabian Sea from 26 to 28 September 2020.
Notably, the series of JIMEX exercises was launched in January 2012 with a special focus on security cooperation.
Earlier JIMEX was held in October 2018 in Visakhapatnam coast of India.
The naval exercise is taking place amid China's military activity in the Indian Ocean Region as well as in the Indo-Pacific.
The officials said the fourth edition of the India-Japan maritime exercise JIMEX will feature a multitude of advanced exercises across the spectrum of maritime operations, in reflection of high degree of inter-operability and joint operational skills.
