Pakistan Election 2024: The vote counting process is currently underway in Pakistan, with the influence of former Prime Minister Imran Khan still resonating strongly. Initial reports suggest that Imran Khan’s party is exceeding expectations in the Pakistan Election 2024. Notably, amidst allegations of electoral fraud, Nawaz Sharif has emerged victorious from the NA-130 seat in Lahore, securing a win against PTI supporter Yasmin Rashid by a margin of 55,981 votes. It’s noteworthy that Yasmin Rashid had maintained a lead in this constituency until late into the night. Additionally, Nawaz Sharif’s daughter, Maryam Nawaz, has clinched victory from the NA-119 seat.
Allegation of Fraud in the Election
In a social media post on Ekash, a PTI supporter @SheikhNabeel786 alleged manipulation and significant rigging in Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s constituency in Lahore, contesting the validity of the results.
Furthermore, several media outlets in Pakistan have reported that Nawaz Sharif was initially lagging behind in popularity. Leaders of Imran Khan’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), have accused the election of being rigged in favor of certain candidates.
Why Delay in Election Results?
Pakistani media outlets have also noted the delay in announcing the election results. The Election Commission was expected to complete the vote count by 10 pm on Thursday, yet even 10-12 hours later, the results have not been announced at the anticipated pace. Some speculate that the Election Commission halted the announcement due to initial trends favoring candidates supported by Imran Khan’s PTI, thereby triggering suspicions of interference.
