ICC T20 World Cup 2024: India's Journey from 2007 to 2024

2007 (Champions)

India became the champions in the first-ever edition of the T20 World Cup games. MS Dhoni-led India defeated Pakistan in the finals and lifted the title.

2009 (Super 8)

In 2009, India faced a horrible exit from the tournament in the Super 8. The team lost three matches in a row against WI, ENG and SA.

2010 (Super 8)

Once again in 2010, India got out of the T20 tournament in the Super 8. They defeated Afghanistan and South Africa but lost to Australia, West Indies and Sri Lanka.

2012 (Super 8)

Another Super 8 exit for the country came in 2012. India won all the matches except for one, but couldn't qualify for further stages due to poor run-rate.

2014 (Runners-Up)

India came back with the strongest team in 2014. They emerged victorious in all the matches but in the finals, Sri Lanka defeated India to lift the title.

2016 (Semi-Finalists)

India couldn't go past the Semi-Finals and lost against the West Indies. India hosted the games that year but ended their run as Semi-finalists.

2021 (Super 12)

India appeared in the T20 World Cup 2021 which took place in the UAE. India ended their run in the Super 12 stage and they lost their first 2 matches against Pakistan and New Zealand.

2022 (Semi-Finalists)

In 2022, the T20 World Cup took place in England and India lost the semi-finals against the home team by 10 wickets. Virat Kohli scored the most runs in the tournament that year.

2024

India has once again confirmed its berth in the finals of this year's T20 World Cup and they will play against South Africa to win the title.
