There have always been questions revolving around the famous beverage, Beer, Is it Veg or Non-Veg? Here, we have solution to it.

It is often seen that Beer is primarily made of Barley Malt, Water, Hops, and Yeast, all of these things are considered suitable for vegetarians or even vegans.

Sometimes animal-derived products like isinglass and gelatin are used during the brewing process which raises questions. Plant-derived products like Irish Moss can also be used during the process.

Some common ingredients used apart from the main ingredients: Clarifying Agents - isinglass, gelatin, and casein Finings- Isinglass, derived from Fish's Swim Bladder.

Flavoring - Hops, majorly used. Sometimes -oysters or shellfish Adjunct Grain - Apart from Barley, corn, rice, or wheat.

Glycerol Monostearate can be used in later stages, which is derived from animals to create foam. Honey can be also added as an adjunct, it is fine for vegetarians but not for vegas. Lactose can also be used, which is a no for Vegans.

Packaged Beers are usually pasteurized or cold filtered which does not require fining.

We can conclude that most beers are vegetarian products and sometimes, they can be non-veg. Most Breweries do not reveal what their product contains.
