According to Houston City Police Chief Troy Finner, on Sunday morning a man set a building on fire and then shot those fleeing. Four people were killed and two were injured as a result.

Speaking at a news conference, the police chief revealed that one of the four people killed was a suspect, CNN reported. The suspect was later gunned down by a Houston police officer.

According to Finer, all those killed were men and they ranged in age from 40-60. He said that the suspect first set the building on fire. After this he waited for the people to come out and then started firing at them.

According to the police officer, the fire brigade reached the spot to douse the fire, but had to retreat after hearing gunshots. Finer said the suspect was a 40-year-old African American man, dressed in black.

Last week, one person was killed and six others were injured in a shooting in the US state of Maryland. Police said one victim succumbed to his injuries and medical personnel declared him brought dead. The victims are all adult males. Witnesses said the suspect vehicle was a 4-door silver Lexus sedan.

Earlier in the night, a man set his car on fire and entered the US Capitol barricades, according to Fox News. The unidentified man allegedly fired indiscriminately and then shot himself.
