Argentina has been hit early on Friday morning by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 on the Richter scale. According to the National Center for Seismology, it struck 517 kilometres north of Cardoba, Argentina, at about 3:39 am on Friday (local time).
The earthquake struck 104 kilometres from Monte Quemado in Argentina's Santiago del Estero Province.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 600 kilometres (372.82 miles) (EMSC).

According to the US Geological Survey, Argentina and Paraguay both felt tremors.
Damage has not yet been reported.
