700 Indian students deported from Canada

About 700 Indian students studying in Canada are facing the threat of repatriation as the government there is preparing to send them back to their country. Actually, all these students have been accused of taking admission through fake offer letters. Indian students have sat on a dharna in protest against the decision of the Canadian government. This dharna is being given in front of the headquarters of the Canada Border Service Agency. At the same time, Indian students believe that they have done nothing wrong and they are victims of forgery. One such Punjab student, Lovepreet Singh, who has taken admission in a Canadian college, will be deported on June 13.

On the other hand, Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal has demanded the Center to resolve the issue of 700 Indian students, mostly Punjabis. All of them have been caught in immigration fraud in Canada and are facing deportation cases. Dhaliwal, in a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, demanded that the students should not be deported and given work permits considering their visas.

Along with this, he requested Home Minister Amit Shah that the Center should cooperate with the Punjab government to punish travel agents who cheat students. Dhaliwal said, “I have also sought an appointment with the External Affairs Minister so that the entire matter can be personally brought to the notice of the Government of India.’

He further said that the law should be strict in such cases so that incidents of human trafficking do not happen in future.

Dhaliwal also appealed to the people of Punjab to check the details of the college and the record of the travel agent before going abroad or sending their children for studies. He also told that the case of two Punjabi boys who were sentenced to death in Indonesia is starting again from June 26 and it is expected that both will be acquitted in this case.
