AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has sharply criticized Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for recommending former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. In a strongly worded statement on social media, Owaisi questioned the moral standing of both leaders, calling them "key agents of global mischief" backed by the United States.
“Munir is a key exporter of terrorism to India, and Netanyahu is a fugitive of the International Criminal Court who has openly committed genocide of Palestinians,” Owaisi tweeted. He further added, “One uses Zionism to kill innocents, and another uses takfirism. Both are propped up by the USA.”
White House Meetings and Nobel Recommendations
According to Reuters, U.S. President Joe Biden hosted both Munir and Netanyahu at the White House. During these meetings, both leaders reportedly praised Trump’s role in foreign diplomacy and urged the Nobel Committee to consider him for the prestigious peace prize. Netanyahu is said to have made the nomination during a closed-door discussion focused on ceasefire prospects in Gaza, while Munir reportedly echoed the same sentiment during his visit.
While Trump expressed optimism about a Gaza ceasefire deal, no concrete details were shared with the press.
Political Reactions and Controversy
Owaisi's comments come amid growing global scrutiny of both Israel’s military actions in Gaza and Pakistan’s track record on cross-border terrorism. His statement has added fuel to the ongoing debate around politicization of international peace awards and the role of U.S. diplomacy in conflict zones.
The White House has not officially commented on the Nobel Prize recommendations, but the meetings and their reported content have sparked criticism from multiple quarters.
