Hollywood Beach: CBS reports that at least 9 people were wounded in a mass shooting incident near Hollywood Beach in Florida. The shooting happened on Memorial Day Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting the graves of fallen soldiers of the U.S. Military. At the time of writing, one person was arrested by the police, while another was on the loose. Hollywood Police have urged people to avoid visiting the area between Johnson and Garfield Streets to aid the ongoing investigation. Visitors should also avoid the Broadwalk area.
The local police have opened a reunion spot at Johnson St. and N. Ocean Loop.
Witnesses said that a fight between two groups escalated into gunshots and wounded several people. Paramedics and nurses told NBC that nine people have been wounded so far, four of whom are between 1-17. The rest are between 25 and 65.One of the gunshot victims has had surgery while the rest are in stable condition.Nobody knows the cause of the gunfire and whether the arms were licensed.
‘Thank you to the good samaritans”
Josh Levy, Mayor of Hollywood took to Facebook to thank the paramedics, emergency room doctors, nurses, passers-by and the police to help the wounded. He also said that a public information officer from the Hollywood Police Department would be issuing bulletins on the shootout.

This report predicts that 2023 is on track to be the “worst in recent history for mass killings in the US.” Continuing further, The Guardian opines that there is no political will to regulate the scores of millions of guns being owned by Americans.
