Azerbaijan and Armenia Clash in Renewed Conflict, Fears of Escalation High!

With new battles and military activities in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, the long-running conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia has flared up once more.

Azerbaijan Armenia war: The Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict is still going on. The Defence Ministry of Azerbaijan stated that it has sent troops to Nagorno-Karabakh, which is under the control of Armenia, along with artillery assistance. An anti-terrorism operation is another name for it. Azerbaijan has issued a warning that its offensive will continue until the Armenian army abdicates. Before Azerbaijan could initiate a military attack, four of its soldiers were killed. After being struck by a landmine, two innocent bystanders died. The Defence Ministry of Azerbaijan provided this information.

Azerbaijani Forces Attack Armenian Positions in Nagorno-Karabakh

According to reports, Azerbaijani forces in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh territory have fired on Armenian positions. At least two civilians, according to ethnic Armenian officials, were killed and 11 others were injured by intense artillery bombardment surrounding the region’s capital. Tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan has existed for a long time. Ethnic Armenian officials were quoted by the news agency AFP as claiming that intense artillery fire in the region’s capital resulted in at least two civilian deaths and 11 other injuries. High-tech weaponry are allegedly being utilised against Armenia’s armed troops and military equipment, according to the Azerbaijani Ministry. The ministry added that only legitimate military targets were struck in addition to this. According to the Nagorno-Karabakh Human Rights Ombudsman, two people were murdered and 23 were hurt during the Azerbaijani army’s attacks. The Russian peacekeeping force stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh has been urged to intervene by the Armenian Foreign Ministry to stop this military action by Azerbaijan.

Global Leaders Urge Ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict

According to Nikol Pashinyan, the prime minister of Armenia, his troops were not involved in the battle and the border situation was’stable’. Russian officials claimed that they are in touch with both Azerbaijan and Armenia and that they have pushed them to engage in negotiations to end the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute. In light of the ongoing attack, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres is reportedly planning to speak with the representatives of both Azerbaijan and Armenia. The European Union also demanded that Azerbaijan cease its ongoing military operations and denounced the military escalation that occurred in Karabakh on Tuesday. The Insider article claims that Azerbaijan has banned access to TikTok in the area. The military activities in Karabakh by Azerbaijan were the topic of a phone conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Azerbaijan to “immediately” halt its military offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh, an area that has declared its allegiance to the ethnic Armenian nation. On Tuesday, Turkey, a strong ally of Azerbaijan, defended Baku’s military campaign against Nagorno-Karabakh.
