Donald Trump-Allies Snub US President
Australian Cabinet Minister Catherine King announced that the country would not offer naval support. King commented we are fully aware how important it is but it’s surely not something that we are contributing to have been asked to.
South Korea remarked that it is presently in discussions with the United States. It added any potential move would only be contemplated after performing a careful and comprehensive review of the situation around the Strait of Hormuz.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized on adopting a diplomatic approach and said the necessity of reopening the Strait of Hormuz is being discussed with US President Trump and Mark Carney, the Prime Minister of Canada, so a coordinated response could be facilitated.
Will China Join An International Coalition?
China, an ally of Iran, has been asked by the United States to become a participant to the naval coalition. Approximately 90 percent of China’s oil supplies pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump Warns NATO Members
In another development, Trump has warned NATO allies saying member nations should assist in securing the Iran-controlled Strait of Hormuz. Trump commented it would be very bad for NATO’s future if member nations provide a negative or no response.
Trump also commented that NATO member nations should help neutralize Iranian threats and deploy minesweepers to the region to ensure hassle-free and uninterrupted passage of oil tankers.
Globally, oil prices have surged massively with Brent Crude topping $106 a barrel with no end in sight to Iranian threats and US Israel Iran War. For weeks, Iran has brought oil tanker transit to a standstill after the joint forces of Israel and the United States attacked the Islamic Republic of Iran.
