Donald Trump popularity rises after arraignment: ‘Poll numbers have never been better’

Donald Trump: Donald Trump’s arrest is turning seems to benefit the former US President. Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social a day after his arraignment, that his "poll numbers have never been better, almost $10 million was raised for the campaign".

He said his arraignment in the hush money case in Manhattan was "perhaps the best day in history for somebody who had just suffered unjustifiable indictment!"

Victim of political persecution

Trump has portrayed himself as a victim of political persecution and a left-wing conspiracy, making him the most popular Republican.

Meanwhile, data from the leading NFT marketplace OpenSea, shows Donald Trump has surged in popularity after he became the first former President of the USA to be indicted, arrested and arraigned on criminal charges. He has pleaded not guilty to all 34 charges.

The two women in the case are porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.

Trump wrote his "poll numbers have never been better, almost $10 million was raised for the campaign". He has projected himself as a victim of an "unjustifiable indictment".

Trump slams District Attorney Alvin Bragg

Trump and his supporters have slammed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, of hounding him for political reasons. He also said the charges against him “ridiculous” and accused Democrats of bringing phony cases against him.

A Yahoo News/YouGov poll showed many Republican voters still see Trump as their man and he is the most popular among current or potential presidential candidates.

Trump also called on fellow Republicans in Congress to defund US Justice Department and the FBI. Bu Congress may not heed to Trump's call to cut funding for federal law enforcement authorities with Democrats in majority in the Senate. Ironically, Republicans have till now sharply criticised calls to "defund" local police departments.

On the oether side, even as the Republican party claims that Trump's arraignment will not harm his chances at Presidency in 2024, many still hope that the US democracy will deliver justice.

According to a Reuters/Ispos poll, around half of the American population think the investigations against Trump are politically motivated.
