Trump suggested renaming the Strait of Hormuz after himself, based on his idea of the US controlling the waterway, during the ongoing conflict between the U.S. and Iran in the strategically important region. The reason behind the attention to Trump’s proposal to rename the Strait is the fact that the waterway is not even part of the US territory.
