Electoral College officially announce Biden as president-elect

Joe Biden has been declared as the President and Indian-origin Senator Kamala Harris as the Vice President of the United States by Electoral College. With the development, Trump’s constant conceding and fraudery allegations have come to an end.

As suggested by the constitution and federal law, the Electoral College cast its votes on Monday for the President, the elections for which were held on November 3.

Reacting to the announcement, Biden hailed the democracy and said that in America, it is not the politician who takes power, but the people who grant it.

“The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago. And we now know that nothing – not even the pandemic – or an abuse of power – can extinguish that flame,” Biden said in a televised address.

“In America, politicians don’t take power – the people grant it to them,” Biden added, attacking Trump who refused to accept his defeat and slapped legal battles alleging fraud in the vote counts.

“They knew this election was overseen – overseen by them. It was honest. It was fair. They saw it with their own eyes,” Biden said.

“That they wouldn’t be bullied into saying anything different was remarkable, because so many of these patriotic Americans are subject to so much enormous political pressure, verbal abuse, and even threats of physical violence,” he added.

The Presidential election in the United States took place on November 3. In any other case, the US would had got a winner and a loser after the results were announced, however, Trump campaign’s legal team said they will never consider Biden a winner. As a matter of fact, Trump’s secretary, also went to announce his seven-country tour, saying Trump will return for a second term.
