Enormous Australian plot to make cigarettes ‘ugly and tasteless’

Australia: To reduce smokers in Australia, the health government proposed banning all flavoured cigarettes and mandating tobacco businesses to create their goods in “ugly” and “unattractive” colours. Previously, Australia instructed tobacco corporations to avoid using overly “attractive” designs on cigarette packs. The country is now focusing on cigarette sticks.

No simple packaging

Australian health minister Mark Butler stated that the country intends to move away from simple packaging in order to target the cigarettes contained within the packet.
Mark Butler stated that the tobacco business is conscious that it has innovated, but “We want to remove that advantage that the tobacco industry has sought to find for itself.”
Mark Butler mentioned that he would like to be engaged in the final designs, but that he is also following the lead of countries such as Canada.

The new modifications will include the use of unusual colours for cigarettes, health warnings directly on cigarettes, uniform shape and size of cigarettes, and the prohibition of tobacco additives.
