Multiple social media accounts have falsely claimed that United States military aircraft used Indian airspace to conduct airstrikes on Iran during Operation #MidnightHammer. These posts allege that India tacitly supported the U.S. operation by allowing its airspace to be used.

However, #PIBFactCheck has confirmed that these claims are completely false

The Government of India has not granted permission for the use of its airspace in any such military activity.

No U.S. aircraft entered Indian airspace during the operation.

"This claim is FAKE. Indian airspace was NOT used by the United States during Operation #MidnightHammer," stated the official clarification.

What the U.S. Said

During an official press briefing, General Dan Caine, Chair of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, clearly outlined the route taken by the U.S. military aircraft, which did not involve Indian territory.

Despite this, several widely circulated posts, including those by social media users like @RavinderKapur2, @iamSaharEmami, and others, falsely claimed "confirmation" of India’s involvement. Some of these posts suggested that India was “complicit” and that “Iran will not forget,” adding to online tensions.

Misinformation Alert

Social media handles have shared misleading graphics, partial screenshots, and doctored maps to support these unverified narratives. However, no credible source, satellite data, or official statement supports the claim.

The Government urges citizens to:

Verify news through official channels like @PIBFactCheck,

Avoid forwarding unverified or provocative content,

And report misinformation to social platforms or authorities.

India’s Official Stance

India has so far maintained neutrality and restraint amid rising tensions in the West Asia region, urging all parties to exercise restraint and uphold regional peace and stability.

The circulation of fake claims risks damaging diplomatic relations and spreading unwarranted panic or outrage.
